Who are Amerigo?

When it comes to equestrian sports, the saddle is an essential piece of equipment that directly impacts both the rider's comfort and the horse's performance. Among the many saddle brands available in the market, Amerigo stands out as a renowned name synonymous with exceptional craftsmanship, innovative design, and superior quality. In this blog post, we will delve into the world of Amerigo saddles, exploring their history, features, and why they are highly regarded by riders worldwide.

Amerigo saddles have a rich history that dates back to 1998 when Peter Menet, a Swiss master saddler, founded the brand. Menet's idea was to create saddles that would optimize the horse's freedom of movement while providing maximum comfort for the rider. With this vision in mind, he collaborated with top riders and trainers to develop saddles that would enhance performance and promote harmony between horse and rider.

Amerigo saddles are known for their innovative design and incorporation of advanced technologies. The brand utilizes state-of-the-art materials and techniques to ensure optimal fit, balance, and weight distribution. Each saddle is meticulously crafted by skilled saddle makers who pay attention to every detail, resulting in a product that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional.

What Trees do Amerigo make their saddles on, and what panels do they have?

Amerigo use two different trees.

The Amerigo Vega saddles are made on a polycarbonate tree, incorporating a tempered steel head iron. The polycarbonate tree allows flexibility whilst remaining supportive. Amerigo Vega saddles have a lifetime tree guarantee.

All other Amerigo saddles are made of wooden spring trees, with a reinforced head iron, which allows the saddles to be altered accurately when required. Saddles with this tree have a 5 year tree guarantee.

All Amerigo and Amerigo Vega saddles have swiss designed, wool flocked, independent panels to allow for alterations and a custom fit to your horse.

Who designs Amerigo Saddles?

Peter Menet is the designer of Amerigo saddles. The saddles are designed to sit the riders weight slightly more forward, over the strongest part of the horses back. This removes pressure from the sensitive part of the horses back, and allows the horses hind legs to swing under, encouraging the horses back to lift. Peter's application of equine biomechanics to saddle design has created a legendry following among top riders.

Amerigo saddles are handcrafted using only the finest materials available. The brand sources premium European leather, known for its durability, suppleness, and ability to mold to the rider's position over time. The attention to detail in the stitching and finishing of each saddle is a testament to the brand's commitment to quality.

The panels of Amerigo saddles are designed with the horse's comfort in mind. They are made from high-density foam that provides excellent shock absorption and even weight distribution. The panels are also flocked with wool, allowing for further customization to ensure a perfect fit for each individual horse.

Who do they fit?

Amerigo offers a wide range of saddle models to cater to various disciplines and rider preferences. Whether you are a dressage enthusiast, showjumper, eventer, or pleasure rider, there is an Amerigo saddle designed specifically for your needs. Each model is carefully engineered to optimize performance in its respective discipline while maintaining the brand's signature quality and comfort.

Amerigo have 8 different dressage tree shapes and 6 different jump tree shapes - so they fit a wide variety of horse shapes

For the rider - there are 5 seat sizes, 17 different blocks and 8 flap configurations - so there is no compromise on rider fit!

If this wasn't enough, there are multiple panel densities and billeting configurations along with tree widths in 0.5cm increments!
