Fairfax Classic GP Saddle

The Fairfax Classic GP is a high-comfort, versatile and adjustable saddle, great for those that want an all round saddle for all types of riding and competition. Here we discuss why and will try and help you decide if the Fairfax GP is the right saddle for you.

About Fairfax

Fairfax saddles are all handmade in England using the best English leather and are created by leading craftsmen and master saddlers. Their aim is to enhance the horse's performance, strengthen the rider's communication and prevent muscular restriction. This is achieved by using a range of the latest science, technology, tradition and vigorous testing. Each saddle created is scrutinised using the latest pressure mapping and gait analysis systems.

All Fairfax saddles feature an adjustable gullet plate, which is interchangeable with Kent and Masters and Thorowgood saddles. This allows the width of the saddle to be altered from Narrow to Extra Wide. This design feature enables the saddle to be altered to fit different horses and horses that change shape making it a very versatile and economic saddle.

Fairfax GP Saddle

The Fairfax Classic GP is a high-comfort GP particularly suitable for the discerning rider who enjoys all types of riding and competition. It is also perfect for those who want to enjoy a little extra luxury and support from their saddle. The horse benefits from Fairfax's fitting features and girthing options thanks to all the research and development that has gone into Fairfax's Performance Products.

The Fairfax Classic GP benefits from all the features common to every Classic saddle, plus the following comfort-enhancing details.

  • A comfortable and supportive seat allowing the rider to get the most from their hours in the saddle
  • The design and placement of the billets gives four girthing options to fine-tune the fit to the horse’s shape and movement
  • Luxurious double-oiled butt leather
  • Super-soft full grain hide on the seat
  • The stitched-on knee block provides superior support for the rider’s leg
  • Deep cushioning over the knee rolls ensures the support is softer and more accommodating for a variety of leg lengths. This can prove particularly useful for those who intend to ride with different stirrup lengths in the GP saddle (i.e. hacking or jumping & competing)
  • Two rows of ghost stitching on the knee roll allow it to contour easily around the block, allowing the leg to rest in the most comfortable and effective position for the chosen stirrup length

Rider Comment:

The Fairfax GP is a lovely saddle to ride in. I feel secure with the knee blocks and they help me maintain a stable lower leg. The saddle is really comfortable for long hacks, but equally as enjoyable during schooling and jumping sessions. I love the fact that I can alter the width myself. When my horse gains weight in the summer, I just pop a wider bar in and we're good to go. My instructor says me and my horse have improved greatly since using the Fairfax GP.
