How does it work?

To purchase or trial a saddle from The Saddle Bank all you need to do is go online, find your perfect saddle and click to purchase. The 5 day trial comes automatically and starts on the day you receive the saddle.

You will pay for the saddle in full plus the postage charge. Yes we do charge upfront. Some similar businesses may lead you to believe that using their services means you don't need to pay upfront. However, they will put a shadow payment on your card for the full amount of the saddle. This means that you can't spend the money anyway and they can take the money at the click of a button.

So whats the difference? With our method you pay upfront and if you are happy with the saddle, fantastic! No further action required. We wouldn't want to interrupt your many happy hours in the saddle.

If it doesn't fit, then no problem. Simply fill out our returns form on our website and we will get the courier booked to collect from you in no time!

How much does it cost to trial a saddle?

You pay for the saddle, plus the postage. If you keep it - great! If the saddle is not the one for you, then you simple return it for a refund of the saddle price minus returns postage fee, minus £10 trial fee which contributes towards cleaning, handling and transaction fees.

Condition rating

When browsing saddles for sale on The Saddle Bank website you will see a condition rating bar. This gives you an indication on how we rate the saddle.

5 stars = New

This saddle will be brand new, with or without tags and will have no marks on it.

4 stars = Immaculate

This saddle could be ex demo or have had very light use. It will be in immaculate condition.

3 stars = Good - Very good condition

Most second hand saddles listed on The Saddle Bank site will be rated a 3 star. This means they are in good to very good condition. They may show light signs of wear, or have small marks in places. You can find out the full description of the condition in our Model Spec section on the individual saddle page.

However, do not be deterred by a 3 star saddle! Remember to be a 4 or 5 star it would have to be ex demo or new!

2 stars = Average condition

Some older saddles, or saddles which have had a bit more use will fall into the Average category and be given 2 stars. The saddles will be sound, but will show signs of wear. These saddles are still perfectly useable and you can grab a really good deal on these saddles.

1 star = Poor condition

Here at The Saddle Bank we do not stock any 1 star saddles. We only sell what we would want to buy or ride in ourselves.

What are your options when selling your saddle?

When selling your saddle, The Saddle Bank gives you options! Who doesn't love the choice to make the best decision. The Saddle Bank purchase some brands outright and sell others on behalf of clients. If you have a saddle brand which we purchase outright we will always endeavor to offer you both an outright purchase price and commission price.

The commission rates are lower than the outright purchase rates which means more money in your pocket once the saddle has sold. But that's the catch. You have to wait until the saddle has sold. We will work with you to establish what is best for you, and to ensure you get the best option for you.

We also offer our clients the option to switch over to outright purchase if they find their saddle is taking too long to sell!

Outright Purchase

Our outright purchase method is only available on those brands which we offer to purchase outright. The outright purchase method is fast and gets cash in your bank quickly. We will give you a price, which you can accept if you wish. You then just box your saddle up and we will arrange the courier to collect it from you. When it arrives to us the saddle is inspected and the money transferred to you!

It is really simple and really quick.

Commission Sale

The commission sale method gets you the best price. Why is that? Because our rates are more competitive on the commission method than if we purchase your saddle outright. The reason behind this is that our money is not tied up in the saddle. Therefore we can offer you better rates to get your saddle sold. The Saddle Bank offer a staggered commission rate structure depending on the value of the saddle. The more expensive the saddle the lower the rate! However, even on the most popular price bracket for saddles £500-1000 our rates are just 23% which is the most competitive in the market!

This method is great for those who are not in a hurry to sell and want to get a better price on their saddle.

Part Exchange

Part exchange is where you send your current saddle into us to exchange it for a replacement saddle. With this method we advise to get a quote for your current saddle so you know how much we can offer you. Then purchase the saddle you want on our website. If happy with the fit of the new saddle just let us know and we will arrange a courier to collect the Part Ex saddle from you. Once the PX saddle arrives to The Saddle Bank we then transfer payment for that saddle to you.

Essentially it is two transactions.

This method is perfect for those who want to put the value of their old saddles towards the cost of their new saddle.
