Firstly, we are going to France. Devoucoux are an extremely popular high end saddle brand. Their saddles are produced in France and have been since 1985. They are constantly researching with new technology which we think is so important in a sport which is constantly evolving. They come in a choice of black or Havana leather.
Now for the individual disciplines. Devoucoux make saddles for show jumpers, cross country goers, dressage, endurance, and leisure riding. Let’s look at their saddles in more detail:
Show Jumping / Cross Country
There are a grand total of 6 saddles specifically designed for the jumping aspects. The double flap saddles are The Biarritz Lab, Biarritz S and Biarritz O.
The Biarritz Lab is the newest double flap saddle. This close contact saddle has been developed with International Riders. This high technology saddle has increasing padding which enhances interactivity between horse and rider. The Biarritz O is a multi-purpose jump saddle. Its seat is wide and semi-deep, with a three-point girthing system for precise adjustment.
The other 3 saddles are all monoflap saddles. The ultimate cross-country saddle which is the Chiberta Lab. This innovative saddle has a featherweight composite saddle tree. The Chiberta O is a multipurpose saddle for cross country or jumping. They promote accurate leg contact and knee and thigh blocks for security. These two saddles are on offer in the full calf or full buffalo leather. The final monoflap saddle is for the pony riders out there. The Chiberta K meets all the security requirements for children, thanks to its front block integrated in the knee pad for maximum comfort and its prominent thigh block.
Dressage
There are four monoflap dressage saddles that Devoucoux have to offer. Ranging from The Makila Harmonie, The Makila Lab, and The Makila S. The Makila S has a deep seat. This saddle improves the stability of the legs and the pelvis. The Makila Lab has a very deep seat with straight flaps. This saddle is designed for the ultimate professionals. These two saddles have the option of full calf or full buffalo leather. The Makila Hermonie is a new dressage saddle. Voltaire
Voltaire was born in 2010, in the USA. In 2012 their workshop expanded and moved to Bassussary, France. They specialise in cross country, jump and dressage saddles. One of their saddles really took us back with a connectible Bluetooth feature linked onto your smart phone.
Palm Beach
Firstly, the Palm Beach Jump Saddle was the first saddle to come out of the Voltaire brand. This double flap saddle is close contact and promotes freedom of movement in the horse.
Blue Infinite
The second saddle is also a double flap jump saddle. This saddle really gets us excited. It came after 3 years of research. Its tree has active flex technology, it is 30% lighter than the classic tree and its spine care panels are designed with anatomical high-tech foams. This saddle is connected via Bluetooth and on the Voltaire design app which is available on Android and Smartphones. This app is simple to use and provides meaningful data for professionals and amateurs. We couldn’t stop there, we wanted to know exactly what this data shows us. This saddle is available in two options, the SPORT, and the CHIC. The jumping saddle promotes a flat seat but if you prefer CHIC then go for the deep seat.
Stuttgart
The Stuttgart is a double flap, deep seat jump saddle (try saying that when you’ve had a glass of wine). It supports the position by providing security and stability. This saddle is available in calf, buffalo, or grained leather. The panels are also custom made, to ensure support but free movement.
Lexington
The Lexington is Voltaires first monoflap saddle. It is designed for event riders. It is an exceptionally light weighted saddle. In fact, it has recently started turning show jumpers’ heads too. Its half deep seat has proven very popular. Especially with Number 1 Event Rider Oliver Townsend, who has been riding in it since it came out.
Adelaide
The Adelaide is a monoflap dressage saddle. It is a close contact saddle and aids precision for the riders’ leg which makes them comfortable even in the long sessions. The cut back tree feature ensures the tree is easy to adjust. This saddle is perfectly suited to the high withered and big shouldered horses.
Welli
Finally, the Welli. This saddle is for the (devil) ponies. It is one of the lightest saddles on the market with a wooden composite tree. This double flap pony saddle is designed for the young rider and their pony.

Amerigo Saddles
Amerigo have been making saddles since 1998. They are an Swish luxury saddle brand manufacture, and they make saddles for the showjumpers, eventers and for dressage. They also make saddles for the Icelandic. Amerigo specialise in equestrian biomechanics, horse health and as well as taking the riders need into consideration. Each saddle is specifically made to order, there are unlimited options in each saddle. You can take your pick on the tree shape, seat, panels, flap lengths and knee rolls.
There are over 50 saddles in different models, which makes this job a little tricky. I can’t possibly go into a description of every model; it would turn into a journal! I think what sets these saddles away from the rest is their flocking system. All Amerigo and Amerigo vega saddles have swiss designed, wool flocked, independent panels to allow for alterations. They have different levels of volume to suit each horse. The panels blend out away from the horse, and become flatter and wider with use, offering a very precise and individual fit.
Jump /Eventing Saddles
Their comprehensive collection of jump saddles offers a type of saddle for every horse and rider. They offer 12 different types of jumping saddles. All have different flap lengths options. Forward cut flaps are also available for most models too. Their wide shape of many different anatomically shaped knee rolls which are also available with a Velcro fastening when it is required to be able to change either knee rolls or positioning.
The Eventing saddle comes in 3 close contact, monoflap options. Specially created for the cross-country phase for all types of horses. There are three leather choices too. Grip leather, pinerolo and special leather and the traditional leather.
Dressage Saddles
Their dressage saddles accommodate all horses. They can provide the rider with a comfortable, balanced, and efficient seat. Their saddles are dependent on what top line your horse has. There is a specific Amerigo measurement system which was created by founder and designer Peter Menet to provide an accurate record of each horse and riders measurement.

Antares
Back to France (France is where it’s at if you hadn’t already guessed). Antares are a luxury saddle brand handmade, in a French workshop. These saddles are completely customable. These saddles specialise in the jumping discipline with over 120,000 saddles just for jumping. There are a wide range of saddles which Antares do. They do a wide range of saddles for each discipline. The original jumping saddles have 5 types. They have 4 different types in dressage. These saddles range on seat size, your ability, and what type of contact you prefer.
Signature Collection
Today, we are focusing on their signature saddles. Their jumping signature saddle is the first on the list. This saddle has a medium-deep seat. This saddle is promoting shock absorption and freedom of the spinal cord. It has an overall calfskin lining for extra grip and stability.
Next, sticking with jump saddles. The Antares monoflap signature saddle, this saddle is the most expensive. If you want this medium-deep seat with a traditional beechwood tree. This saddle has a reinforced arch which avoids the tree breaking or widening over time. The difference between this saddle and the other available jumping saddle is the close contact this saddle gives you. It also has extra blocks which will aid to balance the rider.
Back to the dressage fans now. The Antares signature dressage saddle is a double flap dressage saddle. It has a deep seat with a cadence saddle tree. This saddle optimises the riders’ pelvic position while its short blocks allow a maximum leg freedom. This dressage saddle is a universal saddle. It applies to any dressage rider and any level. The DTA 50 panel option is available which ensures better pressure distribution over the horses back.

CWD
Staying with France. The luxury saddle brand CWD is our next. They started making saddles in 1998 and carried on ever since. These handmade saddles have several ranges. The Classic, Dynamick, Dressage, Eventing, and the endurance.
Classic Range
The Classic saddles are for jumping. Their seat ranges in seat depth. From the flat, semi-deep, close contact saddle to a deep seat. The last saddle is a classic saddle for the little ones.
Dynamick Range
A saddle we want to focus on for you in this range is the 2GS Mademoiselle. These saddles are specifically designed for women. This slender, lightweight saddle ensures maximum comfort and training with additional support. The saddle is available in full calf leather or full grained calf leather.
Their dressage saddle is close contact with precision and comfort. The deep seat has long semi-rigid rolls, which maintains the leg without blocking them.
The eventing saddles are different saddles from the other CWD saddles. They have an innovative girth strap which keeps the saddle in place. This saddle also has enhanced front and hind blocks. CWD have four types of eventing saddle. The flat seat mono-flap saddle, the semi-deep mono-flap saddle, the flat seat cross country saddle and a semi-deep cross-country saddle. So, you have a choice dependent on what seat and contact you want.
Finally, the endurance saddle. This leather-covered has a carbon cantle protector. The advantage of this saddle is the seat is gel, which is for added comfort for long distances. This saves the muscle pain the next day!
