Who are Robinsons Equestrian?

Robinsons Equestrian are one of the UK's longest standing equestrian stores dating back to 1867. In this article we will discuss all things Robinsons and the types of goodies you can find there!

About Robinsons Equestrian

Robinsons Equestrian offer a huge range of equestrian products from rider wear and clothing, to horse tack and rugs, to equipment and tools for use around the yard. With over 50 brands available it really is a great place to shop for all your horsey needs online. However, if you are looking for a saddle Robinsons do not offer the best range as they only offer 3 saddles from the Tekna brand. However, the good news it that The Saddle Bank has you covered when it comes to saddles! With over 1200 quality new and used saddles available, The Saddle Bank is the perfect place to find your dream saddle, competitively priced and delivered direct to your door.

Nevertheless, Robinsons Equestrian is a wonderful place to get everything else you need for your horse. Robinsons also have their own brand 'Requisite' offering affordable products for both horse and rider.

The History of Robinsons Equestrian

In 1867, James Robinson founder of what we now know as Robinsons Equestrian started a small saddlery company in Wigan. At this time, horses were pivotal to the North west with horses providing most of the power in transport etc. Horse riding as a hobby or sport was only enjoyed by the elite and most affluent people for many years.

By the 1960's, Robinsons was owned by James Robinsons grandson, Jim. Jim decided to retire in the 70's and with no one to pass the company onto, Robinsons was sold to a local riding instructor name Jim Bentham.

During the 1970's horse riding as a sport experienced a boom thanks to Princess Anne and the popularity of Harvey Smith. With many new riders joining, Robinsons pioneered the launch of brighter coloured, more reasonable priced products and fashion items.

Over the years Robinsons grew through exposure at trade shows to become a larger country store, offering mail order through catalogue and launched their first online website in 1995.

Nowadays Robinsons offer online orders through their easy to use website and have various stores across the UK.

What about saddles?

Although Robinsons began as a saddlery and would have had a strong history towards offering leather products and repairs during their early years, this is not something they now offer. Robinsons can kit you out with pretty much everything but the saddle. However, The Saddle Bank is the worlds most trusted online saddle retailer so if you are looking to purchase a saddle you can do so via The Saddle Bank.
