How to photograph your saddle for sale

Here you will find some of The Saddle Bank's top saddle selling tips! When selling your saddle, it is important to take good photos to show off the condition of the saddle and its features in the best possible way. Good photos will help attract buyers and achieve the best possible sales price.

Saddle Selling Tips - Do's

Saddle selling tips - MUST DO's. These simple things will really help you sell your saddle and get the price you want for it.

  1. Photograph your saddle in good light. This will help to show the condition and any imperfections - the buyer will know exactly what they are getting!
  2. Take photos from all angles. The buyer will want to see any good or bad points before parting with their hard earned cash.  if you miss things out they will only ask for more photos, taking up your time and causing a delay in selling your saddle.
  3. Photograph against a plain, light background. Doing this means the saddle will stand out much more against a plain background, and the potential buyers will be focused on the saddle rather than your dog or baby in the background.

Saddle Selling Tips - Don'ts

Saddle selling tips ABSOLUTE DO NOT's. Avoid these things to prevent time wasters, or prevent people from asking for more photos. Always be prepared with good photos!

  1. Take photos in bad/dark light. This can actually make the saddle look in worse condition than it is.  It won't attract buyers or they will ask you to take photos in brighter light - again taking up more of your time. On the flip side it can also hide blemishes on your saddle. However, if you are not upfront and honest with the buyers they may open a case on PayPal against you if the condition is not what they are expecting.
  2. Crop photos to show only half the saddle, or take photo's from funny angles - again buyers will be asking for better photos.
  3. Take photos with busy backgrounds - it will be harder for buyers to focus on the saddle, and it won't stand out as much.
  4. Hide any imperfections, damage, wear etc - the buyer is likely to complain once they receive the saddle - honesty is always the best policy!
