When you send your saddle to us to sell outright or on your behalf, it will be thoroughly inspected upon arrival for any potential faults.

Such as bent stirrup bars, squeaky trees, stitching issues, torn/damaged straps.

If your saddle is deemed to have a potential fault, the saddle will be rejected back to you.

You are liable for the return courier fees to get the saddle back to you.

The Saddle Bank can arrange collection of your saddle with DPD Local.

The parcel is fully insured during transit provided it is packaged correctly.

It is your responsibility to ensure the parcel is packaged correctly.

The saddle should be packaged in a cardboard box with some soft padding in the box such as bubble wrap

Yes, all saddles must be packaged and boxed up ready for collection.

The courier doesn't bring a box with them and we are unable to send boxes out to customers.

We recommend a box size of around 62 x 48 x 48 cm, or 24 x 18 x 18 inch.

It might be worth asking at your local shops, tack shop or removals/storage company about boxes!

We currently only take saddles in to sell from within mainland UK.

With a part exchange the easiest way to proceed is by keeping the two transactions separate as if you require a trial on the new saddle (which we recommend), it can get very complicated with returning a saddle when you have used your saddle as part payment.

The first step of doing a part exchange is to get a quote on the saddle you would like to sell. You can do this via our sell your saddle form.

Whilst waiting for your quote, please browse the website for the saddle you would like to purchase.

When you have received your quote, if offered an outright sales price, this will be the amount we can offer for your saddle in part exchange.

If you would like to accept this, reply to your quote and accept the outright sales price.

Proceed to purchase the saddle you would like to trial via the website. Once you have trialled the saddle and have decided you want to keep it, let us know and we will then arrange collection of your old saddle.

When that saddle arrives into us we then transfer payment to you via bank transfer.

If you are not offered an outright price for your saddle, it may not be possible to do a part exchange as it may not be a brand we accept in on outright sales.

However, discuss this with the quotes team and they will see what they are able to do.

We are unable to accept saddles with a value of less than £275 to be sold via our consignment sales process.

A lot of work goes into receiving, cleaning, advertising, insuring, dealing with buyers, and preparing the saddles for dispatch.

Hence our stepped commission structure.

Therefore, we are unable to take saddles with a lesser value than this.

The time it takes to sell a saddle varies based on a number of factors; the brand, seat size, width, price, and condition.

Some brands and sizes sell much faster than others.

High-end saddles tend to take longer to sell than adjustable gullet saddles.

However, The Saddle Bank has customers across the world. Therefore, we have a good range of buyers at different price points and disciplines.

Our goal is to get your saddle sold as quickly as possible as it is of no benefit to us or you to have the saddle sat on a peg in our warehouse.

The buyer pays for the saddle in full upfront.

So if it is returned with any damage, this is deducted from the refund due to the buyer and reimbursed to you.

Therefore, it does not affect the amount of money you will receive.

If your saddle is returned from trial beyond repair, we would not accept the saddle return, and the buyer will be liable for it.

Yes. All second-hand saddles sold via The Saddle Bank come with a 5–day UK Mainland trial.

We would love to be able to instantly free up cash for every single one of our clients and offer to buy your saddle outright, but in reality, it's not possible as we have to manage our cashflow as a business.

The Saddle Bank will offer outright purchases on certain brands of saddles and commission sales on other brands.

We tend to offer outright purchases on adjustable gullet brands such as Bates, Kent and Masters, Thorowgood etc.

With commission sales on higher end brands such as Equipe, Amerigo, Antares, CWD etc.

If opting for the outright purchase method, you can choose to receive payment via PayPal upfront or via bank transfer when the saddle arrives to us.

Please note, PayPal will charge you PayPal fees of approximately 3.5%.

If opting for a bank transfer, payment is made to you within 48 hours of the saddle arriving at The Saddle Bank.

Your bank will not charge you any fees to receive payment via a bank transfer.

If we are taking your saddle to sell on your behalf, you will receive payment 30 days from the date the new buyer has taken possession of the saddle. Payment is transferred to you via bank transfer.

If you have submitted your details for a quote and have not received it, please check your spam/junk folder as it will likely land in your spam box.

We clear all email inboxes daily Monday-Friday. 

If you sent a request or email between Monday-Friday 9 am-5.30 pm you can expect a response the same day.

If not, please allow us until the next working day to get back to you.

Our commission fees are on a sliding scale depending on the value of the saddle.

- 15% on saddles worth over £2775
- 18% on saddles worth £1875 - £2774
- 21% on saddles worth £1275 - £1874
- 23% on saddles worth £525 - £1274
- 30% on saddles worth £375 - £524
- 38% on saddles worth £275 - £374
- 40% on saddles worth £150 - £274

This fee is inclusive of any PayPal/Card transaction fees and VAT we incur in selling your saddle.
Our commission fee is non-negotiable.

Sadly if your brand of saddle is not on the list on the sell your saddle form it is not a brand we are taking to sell.

In some cases, you may see that we have some of your brand of saddle for sale on our website.

This means, that we have ceased taking this brand. Therefore, when they are sold we are not taking any more of that particular brand.

The reason we do not take a particular brand of saddle can vary from us having no in-depth knowledge of a particular brand, to issues matching up serials numbers with the manufacturer, to poor quality saddles or repeated issues with a particular brand.

Selling your saddle through The Saddle Bank is a super simple process.

Firstly, complete the sell your saddle form on our sell your saddle page. The details will then be sent to our quotes team who will get you a quote within 24 working hours (usually much faster).

Often our quotes will land in your spam or junk folder so please check as your quote might be in there!

When you receive your quote, simply reply letting us know if you would like to proceed and we will send you details on the next steps.

You then box the saddle up ready to send to us. We will arrange DPD to collect the parcel from you fully insured.

If you are selling your saddle to us outright for instant payment, we will cover the cost of the courier.

If you are sending your saddle to us to be sold on your behalf, you will be invoiced for the courier fee before they collect.

When your saddle arrives into us, it is unboxed and inspected thoroughly. Upon passing the inspection process, if you are selling the saddle outright, payment will be made to you within 24 hours of the saddle arriving to us.

If we are selling your saddle on your behalf, it will be added to our website within 48 hours of arriving and as soon as we have a cleared sale we will be in touch to let you know.

Firstly assess if you have an adjustable gullet saddle. If so, you can enter adjustable.

If the saddle is a fixed tree, the width may be stamped on the saddle near to the serial number.

If the saddle does not have a serial number and you are unsure on the width, please mention this in the description section.

If the width of your saddle has been altered from what is shown on the serial number, please mention this in the description section.

If you are unsure on the seat size, you may be able to find this by checking the serial number of the saddle.

If you are not sure, please enter your best guess and upload a photo of the serial number.

If there is no serial number upload a photo of the saddle with a tape measure measuring the seat size.

The serial number is required on a number of brands so we are able to identify the age of the saddle.

This includes;
Equipe, Amerigo, Devoucoux, CWD, Prestige, Antares, Voltaire, Loxley, Bliss (serial is usually stamped on the underside of the left flap).

Bates, Arena and Wintec (serial is on the underside of the left flap, the side which touches the horse).

Albion (serial is often located under left girth straps unless a monoflap).

Please take a photograph of the stamp/serial and send this image through aswell as typing the serial number in the serial box.

Please select the condition that most accurately describes your saddle in accordance with the information below:

Poor condition: This saddle will be and older saddle which has been heavily used, showing signs of wear but will be sound

Average condition: This saddle will be sound and in useable condition but will show heavy signs of wear, scuffs, scratches, discolouration etc. The saddle may require minor cosmetic repairs (if so it should be stated in the description).

Good condition: This saddle will be in Good used Condition. It may show general signs of wear, light scuffs/scratches which should be detailed in the photos.

Very good condition: This saddle will be in Very Good used Condition. It may show light signs of wear, minor marks scuffs/scratches which should be detailed in the photos

Immaculate condition: This saddle will be immaculate and show very light signs of wear. It may also be an Ex Demo saddle which has been used a couple of times, or a new saddle without tags.

Please note, we are only able to offer outright or part exchange on certain brands. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer your preferred method. However, please select your preferred method and our team will review your request.
