My Best Month Yet with Basil | Horse Riding Progress, Lessons & Trail Rides

April was a month full of ups, downs, and growth—for both me and Basil. After a tough March and moving yards to improve Basil's turnout, things finally started to click.

We kicked off the month with a beautiful hack through Woburn Forest 🌲 (shoutout to Steph for saving the day when Basil got fidgety!). From there, it was our first lesson back with Matt Cox after a confidence knock, and it felt great to be back in the saddle.

But, of course, progress isn’t always a straight line. A wobbly morning hack knocked me again, and I started questioning everything. So we paused, reset with groundwork and physio, and slowly found our way back.

✨ The highlight? A confidence-building simulator day at Aylesford Equestrian with cross-country-style obstacles, water play (and Basil rolling in sand 🤦‍♀️), and all kinds of fun! We wrapped up the month with a biomechanics session at Pickering Grange to work on my balance and Basil’s straightness—and it was a huge success!

🌟 May is all about working on me so I can be the rider Basil deserves.
