Here at The Saddle Bank, the worlds most trusted online saddle retailer, we understand that it can be difficult to find good quality, reasonable priced English saddles for sale in USA. Therefore, we offer a fast and affordable service to help supply horse riders across the world with quality used (and new) English saddles.

In this article we will discuss buying an English saddle from a UK company and what to expect. If by the end of the article you would like to buy a saddle but have a couple more questions, why not get in touch with our friendly customer support team via email info@thesaddlebank.com. Our lovely team are always happy to help as much as they can and provide you with the information you need to make the best decision for you and your horse.

How does it work buying an English saddle?

Finding English saddles for sale in USA can be tricky and very expensive. The reason for this is that most 'English' saddles are made in the UK. The exception is some of the European brands such as Devoucoux, Antares, Equipe etc. However, firm favourites such as Black Country saddles, Ideal saddles, Fairfax saddles, Kent and Masters saddles plus many others are all manufactured in the UK. Therefore, they have to be imported to USA no matter what. Second hand saddle retailers in USA are also importing their stock from UK. Guess where they buy them from? The Saddle Bank! So you too can enjoy the benefits and price of a quality used saddle shipped direct to you.

The Saddle Bank offer a selection of over 1200 saddles, both new and used available for immediate dispatch. The Saddle Bank stock both fixed size and adjustable gullet saddles. Saddles are complemented by various accessories you may need. Accessories include gullet bars, cleaning products, girths, stirrup leathers etc. The Saddle Bank has everything you need to get kitted out with a saddle.

Although, The Saddle Bank are not currently able to offer trials over seas (we are working on it), each saddle comes with an inspection report card so you know the saddle has been fully checked and inspected.

When purchasing a saddle through The Saddle Bank website, you may need to advise your bank that you are purchasing from a UK company so that the bank permits the transaction to go through.

Shipping English saddles to USA

Shipping to the US is super easy, and usually takes 3 working days to arrive to you. You can check the latest saddle shipping rates here. Some remote destinations may take a little longer so please allow 3-7 working days. The Saddle Bank ship saddles to USA with UPS, using a fully tracked and insured service.

For orders received before 11am UK time, the saddle will be dispatched the same working day (orders received after 11am Friday will be dispatched on the Monday). Once we receive your order, the saddle will be prepared and boxed up with plenty of protection. UPS will then collect it from us and it will be on it’s way to you!

Once your English saddle arrives in the USA you will be notified, and asked to pay customs/import charges. The amount payable varies depending on the value of the saddle. For saddles under the value of £560, there are no charges. We often get asked if we can declare a lower value to avoid charges. Sadly we are not able to do this, as the value we declare affects the insurance. Therefore, should something happen to a saddle in transit we would not be able to claim for the full value. Therefore, it is important we declare the true value.

However, many of our customers find that even with the shipping charges and customs fees it is much cheaper to import a saddle from UK than to buy one in USA.

Once the charges have been paid, UPS will deliver your saddle to you.

What next?

Hopefully you and your horse will love the saddle! We recommend having a saddle fitter check the saddle suits your horse and you. If you do not have any local saddle fitters close buy you can increase your knowledge using our online course Recognising Saddle Fit Issues. This is a must do for all horse owners and riders to be able to recognise changes in you horse which could be caused by saddle fit or affect saddle fit. The course is instantly accessible, takes just 2 hours to complete and provides you with invaluable information that you can use for the rest of your life.

My saddle isn’t suitable, what can I do?

Unfortunately, due to shipping costs and timescales, we are unable to offer trials to international customers, however this does not mean you will be stuck with a saddle you can’t use. Even with the shipping costs and customs charges, saddles bought from the UK often still work out cheaper than what is available in the USA, so you can sell your saddle, and even make a profit. If you are struggling, let us know and we can point you in the direction of a tack shop who may be able to help..

I can’t find a suitable saddle on your website; can you still help me?

Yes! If you can't find what you are looking for, you can set up an alert with our dream saddle notifier. As soon as the saddle you are looking for arrives in stock we will let you know.

If the saddle you want is on our website but currently on trial you can set up an alert directly on this indiviudal saddle so that if it comes back you will be the first to know.

We would recommend setting up alerts on both of these pages so that you are notified A. if any new saddles come in that match your criteria and B. if the saddle you have seen on the site returns from trial.

We get new stock daily, so hopefully it won’t be long until we have what you’re looking for.
