The Royal Windsor Show - A Celebration of Equestrian Excellence
The Royal Windsor Show: A Celebration of Equestrian Excellence
The Royal Windsor Horse Show marks its 80th year this year (2023). It was first staged in 1943 and hosts international competitions in show jumping, dressage, driving and endurance, being awarded CHI status by the FEI.
The first show took place on 26th May 1943 to help raise funds for the war effort, and was originally called the Windsor Horse and Dog Show. Dogs were banned the following year after a lurcher stole a piece of chicken from King George V’s lunch plate.

Our Saddle Bankers Excellence
We are so pleased to announce, that, at such a prestigious equine event, one of our Saddle Bankers, Poppy, finished an incredible 2nd place in the SSADL Royal International Class! We want to give Poppy and Spike massive congratulations!
From Poppy:
After a 2 year break from showing for Spike (aged 20), I ventured out with him to the Royal Windsor Horse Show, held in the grounds of Windsor Castle. We entered the SSADL Royal International Class.
It was an interesting class with a swarm of bees joining in and following us in our show! Just as we were starting our individual show, the Royal Guards paraded right next to our ring!
Spike managed to remain the professional that he is and gave a good show, followed by a fantastic trot up for the conformation judge.
Our class was a strong class with ponies aged between 19 and 24.
I was ecstatic to be placed 2nd with Spike, as this was our first-ever placing at Royal Windsor!
Dates Announced for 2024: 1st-5th May 2024!
