How We Professionally Check and Repair Saddles | Full Saddle Safety Inspection at The Saddle Bank

At The Saddle Bank, every saddle is thoroughly inspected to ensure it’s not just fit for purpose, but safe, sound, and comfortable for both horse and rider. In this video, we walk you through our full in-house saddle check process — from the moment it arrives, to the final sign-off before it's cleared for use.

We start by assessing the tree for flexion or twist and closely inspect the head plate and rivets for signs of stress or damage. Then we examine the panels for uneven flocking, check that the girth straps are securely stitched and free from wear, and ensure every part of the saddle — from the stirrup bars to the cosmetic stitching — is intact and reliable.

If the saddle features an adjustable gullet system, we open it up to inspect the bolts, staples, and internal fittings. We make sure everything is firmly in place, nothing is spinning loose, and the saddle remains structurally sound.
